Who we are
Our vision at Northwest Metabolic Medicine is to serve people in our community by rebuilding wellness together. Our top priorities are compassion, education and individual care. No two people are the same, so your journey to health will be different than the next. Our goal is for you to be heard and seen for everything that brought you to where you are as we walk together to where you want to be. This process is a lifelong choice to make yourself and your health a priority and is rarely linear. We are here for you for the long hall- the hard weeks and the joy as you gain more health and freedom!
What we offer
Comprehensive Labs
We typically order several different diagnostic lab tests. These lab tests give very accurate and individualized information about your health, which is essential to develop the most effective plan possible for you. You have two options for how your labs are ordered: Utilizing your personal health insurance at an in-network lab or out of pocket at a cash pay lab. As a reminder, we do not have control over lab pricing and do not have a relationship with insurance vendors, so while we are happy to offer advice, NWMM is not responsible for the cost of your labs based off of your decision on where to fulfill your orders, though we will continue to make the process as accessible as possible!
In-house Body Composition Testing
We’re excited to be able to offer precision measurement of muscle and adipose (fat) tissue using Bio-electrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) body composition testing with the InBody 570. Using the InBody analysis system we can track body composition changes as opposed to overall weight loss only. Muscle loss is a common mishap in weight-loss- our goal is to keep you strong as you pursue a healthier life!
We offer this service as a standard part of every visit or a “self service” product.
Who you’ll see
Amelia “Amy” Miller, PA-C
Growing up in an Italian family centered around family meals and food she was active in sports at a young age and weight was never a concern. Until, like many, she entered her college years and her struggle with weight gain began prompting her own weight loss journey. Through her own struggles with body image and other weight related issues she developed a desire for educating, motivating, and encouraging others to develop healthier lifestyles to help them achieve their individual weight loss goals.
However, it was not until after years of clinical practice and ultimately the COVID-19 pandemic that her passion for improving her patient’s health through weight loss and lifestyle changes intensified. The pandemic highlighted the need for a shift in focus from brief patient encounters centered around treating diseases as they present to a more thoughtful, individually-tailored approach focusing on how lifestyle changes, nutrition, and weight loss can both prevent and treat chronic disease.
“Sharing a passion for serving the community in this field of medicine made purchasing Northwest Metabolic Medicine an obvious choice and I am proud to be a part of what this practice offers individuals in Northern Idaho.”
